NEWS UPDATE: Bear Cub Sighted North of Tejon Ranch

FRAZIER PARK, Calif. (Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, 11:15 a.m.)—One of the three bear cubs captured in Frazier Park last month has been sighted in Bear Valley Springs and six miles away in Stallion Springs, according to California Department of Fish and Game Wildlife Biologist Bill Asserson.

Asserson said he received a report about a bear cub in an oak tree on private property in Bear Valley Springs on September 8. The property owner told Asserson that the cub was eating acorns, then climbed the tree for the night, came down in the morning to eat more acorns, then disappeared. He then was told by a sheriff's deputy that the cub, a female, was seen on another property in Stallion Springs around September 12. These areas are north of Tejon Ranch and west of Tehachapi.

Another cub that was recaptured in Neenach earlier this month, Asserson says was released "in the high country."
