FRAZIER PARK, California (Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, 12 noon)–The LaRouche Political Action Committee has set up shop in front of Frazier Park Post Office to solicit members among citizens dissatisfied with the economy and with government. "This bail-out is killing our nation," they told receptive passersby 24 hours before election day.

Alexandra Phillips of San Francisco and her Los Angeles-based co-worker Nicole (who refused to give her last name) were also saying things that some residents didn’t agree with.

While Larry Brown approached the table with interest in their message, he ended up telling them, “I think you guys are a little over the edge.”

Nicole explained to another resident, “We’re building a military now to get Obama out of office.”

VFW Post 9791 Commander Dave Gilman responded, “We only have one military at a time,” before he walked away. Gilman also told them that he didn’t like their placement of a Hitler-like mustache on President Obama’s photograph.

Several people came into the newspaper office to complain or ask whether the solicitations were lawful. Dolores Rouse phoned to say, "This really irks me. I don’t like them standing there with that sign."

Solicitations and opinions conducted from a public sidewalk are protected speech under the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.

Phillips said she tried setting up a table at Pine Mountain Post Office but was told to leave because she was on private property.

The group’s founder Lyndon LaRouche has run for the office of United States President eight times since 1976. In 1988 he was sentenced to 15 years in prison for mail fraud and tax code violations. He was released on parole in 1994.

Phillips said the organization would be in Frazier Park for one day only.
