Fairmont Town Council Makes Progress on NRG Appeal

UPDATE—FAIRMONT/WESTERN ANTELOPE VALLEY (March 24, 2011)—This evening, Thursday, March 24, the Fairmont Town Council voted to withdraw their appeal following announcement that they had come to a settlement agreement with NRG. See details in next week’s issue of The Mountain Enterprise.

Breaking News: The Fairmont Town Council, working in cooperation with residents of Neenach, Three Points and others in the Western Antelope Valley, has reportedly made progress in their appeal of the NRG Solar project. Residents of the region filed two appeals to protest Los Angeles County Regional Planning’s negative declaration allowing NRG to avoid an Environmental Impact Report. Appeals are scheduled to be heard March 30 at 8 a.m. at the Department of Regional Planning (320 West Temple Street, Los Angeles 90012). Meanwhile, productive talks have begun between NRG and the appellants, residents report.

The public is invited to hear a reading of the proposal on Thursday, March 24 at WeeVill Market (18348 West Ave. D off Hwy. 138).
