$250,000 water grant coming to LOW

By Patric Hedlund

Lake of the Woods Mutual Water Company has been sent a funding agreement for a $250,000 emergency water supply grant. Water Operator Rafael Molina, Jr. said he believes there will be an announcement at the Thursday, Dec. 5, 7 p.m. board meeting.

A $10,000 emergency stipend was allocated earlier for trucking water to fill storage tanks for the virtually dry community. That leaves $240,000 for working with engineers to locate water sources, then develop new wells, said Dave Warner of Self Help Enterprises, who wrote the grant.

Warner confirmed on Wednesday, Dec. 4 that the California Department of Public Health has sent the agreement for Proposition 84 funds to LOWMWC for signing. “The application was submitted in October,” Warner said.
