Fire reported west of Pine Mountain Club

PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB, CA (Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015 at 2:20 p.m.)—Lightning strikes are reported to have ignited a fire west of Pine Mountain Club. Here is a dispatch from retired San Luis Obispo City Fire Department Captain Jeff Zimmerman:

A very powerful thunder storm cell has moved across Highway 166 into Santa Barbara and Kern Counties and is now moving into san Luis Obispo County. Los Padres National Forest on Mt. Pinos has activated a lightning plan. One fire has been reported so far, the mud fire, slow rate of spread 1 acre. Cumulus development is building from Neenach westward. Down strikes reported over Cerro Noroeste Rd west of PMC. Potential for lightning tomorrow 40%. Lightning strikes over Carrizo Plain. Lightning reported over the Pinnacles. Active cell Highway 166 and Highway 33 area. More lightning expected as the day heats up.
