Meet Mr. November

How does it feel to have your custom vehicle selected to be featured in a calendar and then distributed to hobbyists worldwide?

Lake of the Woods’ Clint Van Hooser can answer that question.

His 1972 Kawasaki H2 750 Quad is featured in the 2010 edition of the Snap-on Tech Toys wall calendar. His wife, Donna Van Hooser laughed, “I’m Mrs. November.”

The Tech Toys calendar was first published by Snap-on tools last year, they say, “as a tribute to imaginative automotive technicians and hobbyists who use Snap-on products creatively to maintain their personal toy vehicles” such as boats, planes, pullers, race machines and specialty trucks.

Snap-on manufactures automotive repair tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers. They are purchased by dealers, from Snap-on and are resold to mechanics, door-to-door.

In its second year, the calendar continues to feature one-of-a-kind vehicles. It is a unique publishing venture. Snap-on franchisees invite their customers to submit photographs of their custom toys. Then representatives from the company gather to review all entries and choose the best vehicles to showcase in the calendar.

Van Hooser’s name, photograph and toy information appear in the calendar. “Once printed,” the company says, “the calendar provides a daily reminder of the imagination, dedication and pride of both mechanical technicians and hobbyists worldwide.”

This is part of the March 05, 2010 online edition of The Mountain Enterprise.
