“The Center of the World Festival just got notification March 16 that we were awarded $10,000 from Kern Community Foundation for our youth storytelling workshops,” wrote Shelia Clark, co-founder of the event affectionately referred to as “COWFest.”

“COWFest Redux is our first outreach specifically to community youth,” Clark said. “This grant reflects our wish to get young people involved. If they have never seen the festival, COWFest Redux can help them get an idea of the eco-drama theme.”

This is an opportunity for people of all ages, youth, elders and all in-between, who are interested in writing plays and becoming involved in meaningful community theater, to learn more about creative opportunities.

The Sunday, April 3 festivities are a roll-in to the three-day COWFest event to be held August 19-21, 2011. Community members and people across the country, and abroad, are invited to participate in the playwriting contest. Prizes of $500 are awarded to the winning play.
