Christmas in the Village confirms Santa’s visit

By Judy Keim, Pine Mountain

Santa comes to the Mountain Communities on Saturday, Dec. 13. All mountain residents are cordially invited to join in the parade and the fun at Christmas in the Village. Pine Mountain Village will host the happy event from 12-4 p.m. Families will be entertained with music, games and other fun. Prizes will be given out 12:30–4 p.m.

Wendy from Chatterpillar will be painting elf faces and the ladies of Tuesday with Friends will be serving soup and drink at the Log Activity Center.

Pastor Rick will tell “The Greatest Story Ever Told” at the Pine Mountain Christian Community Church at 4 p.m.

Registrations for the Third Annual Christmas Tree Decorating Contest are open until Nov. 25. Trees are available all along Pine Valley Lane and Gazebo Circle. There is no cost.

Come over, pick a tree, register your claim and decorate your tree by December 6. So far, 17 trees have been claimed.

The first 25 will receive a holiday jingle written by Allie Jo Thomas, to be sung in front of the gazebo while families are waiting to visit Santa. The first 15 teams who complete their trees by Nov. 30 will receive a ‘Fast Pass’ to see Santa.

Prizes valued at $250 will be awarded for the top three trees. By December 6, each participant is asked to place an 18 x 24 inch sign, telling who created the masterpiece.

Volunteers have stepped up to organize the events. The commercial property owners association is paying for insurance and $300 to fund the event. Local businesses and individuals are donating toys, gift certificates and publicity. We will make it work, together.
