When it comes to water in the state of California, what may at first appear to be routine may just be the prelude to drama. Item Number 8 on the Tejon-Castac Water District agenda June 13 was “Reports.” Item ‘C’ under that was ‘SGMA Updates.’ That acronym, (pronounced Sigma) stands for the State of California’s Sustainable Groundwater Management Act, that will lead to an array of management authorities throughout the state to assure that the state’s water resources are managed wisely.

From board room to warehouse. On Mach 24 we reported there was little daylight between Tejon Ranch Company and the Tejon Castac Water District. Since then, the water board meetings have been changed from the Tejon Ranch board room to a warehouse near Arvin.
