Draft Report : ‘There is enough water for both Frazier Park and LOW’

Engineering consultant Dee Jaspar & Associates had good news for the Frazier Park Public Utility District (FPPUD) and Lake of the Woods Mutual Water Company (LOW) last week. The question most basic to a decision about a possible merger between the two water companies was answered.

In his Thursday, June 25 report to the ad hoc committee that is investigating collaboration, Dee Jaspar discussed research findings paid for by a preplanning grant from the state. The two water companies are exploring the possible benefits and possible problems if the private LOW mutual water company and the public Frazier Park district were to join forces.

Civil Engineer Dee Jaspar & Associates provided this map of the Cuddy Creek Groundwater Basin. They said it is divided into three parts: the west, middle and east sub-basins. Lake of the Woods draws from the west sub-basin which is narrow but recharges quickly. Frazier Park is over the middle sub-basin, which is wider and deeper, plus has a structural restriction at its eastern end that slows water from flowing further downstream. The east sub-basin serves Lebec.
