Need for Volunteers on Falcon Field Upgrade changes again

UPDATE-LEBEC, CA (Monday, July 25, 2016 at 12:47 p.m.)—Coach Marc Sandall said just now that the field at Frazier Mountain High School will not be ready for volunteers to work laying sod this Saturday.

A new tire for the large equipment known as a scraper will not be available until late this week, he said. The scraper is being used on Falcon Field to level and grade the field before top soil is augmented with fertilizer, leveled and prepared for the sod to be brought in. Coach Sandall is coordinating with the team working to renovate the field about rescheduling. He will alert us as soon as the alternate day for the sod laying is set.

UPDATE-LEBEC, CA (Monday, July 25, 2016 at 8:10 a.m.)—It was a successful weekend at Falcon Fields and the work with dump trucks to bring in topsoil went well—except for a flat tire on a scraper, the biggest piece of equipment. Now, for next Saturday, July 30 volunteers are needed at 3 p.m. to help roll out and place turf. There may be volunteers working on Sunday as well. All questions and commitments, please call Coach Sandall at 661.487.0350 to coordinate.

There was a flat tire on a big scraper on Saturday that slowed the work. Coach Sandall said that 75% of the prep work is completed. He said that the first home football scrimmage may have to be played in Bakersfield because a 4-6 week “curing time” is needed after the sod is put in.
