Editorial: It Is Time To Have A Real Conversation

It Is Time to Have a Real Conversation

• Pine Mountain Club Board Chair William Gurtner wants to rush to build a new clubhouse complex. Letters and OpEds are pouring in to demand a robust, fact-based community conversation first. [See OpEd on page 6 and below, plus strong letters on page 5].

• Serious questions about people losing their homes due to rising PMC assessments set high stakes for this $7 million decision.

• A promise was broken by Chairman Gurtner. Where are the options for clubhouse updates Mr. Gurtner said he would present?

• No valid metrics about current clubhouse usage have been presented to justify the need for a new 25,364 sq. foot building complex.

• No credible financial data was submitted to the members.

• It is time for PMCPOA’s board to get factual.

• A series of community workshops showing options based on facts will yield respectful questions and respectful dialogue.

• Consensus is the glue that holds communities together.

• The only vote to rush into now should be the vote to hold a series of community workshops with real facts and real options for us all to consider—together.
