Falcon Volleyball soars into CIF division playoffs

By Coach Sharon Lemburg

Frazier Mountain High School’s champion volleyball team won both their playoff games here at home. The next game will be at West Hills College in Lemoore (near Fresno), at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12.

On Tuesday, Nov. 8 the Falcons took down Kings Christian from Fresno, 3-1. Match scores were 25-18, 25-11, 21-25, and 25-12.

On Saturday we will meet Immanuel Christian, the same team we played last year in the championship game. They had a decent team then, and beat our league rival, Cal City, Tuesday night, so it will be a good fight for the CIF Central Section Division V Championship.

We intend to win it, and go on to CIF State Championships. Those games are Nov. 16, 17, 19 and 22.

Those are single elimination regional playoffs to get to the state championship on Nov. 26. During the last two years we fought our way up to be among the top 8 teams in the state.

There were 150 to 200 people cheering in the crowd at FMHS on Tuesday. The cheer team led the spirited roars of the crowd.

Our Falcons also won big last week against Wonderful College Prep Academy. Scores were 25-11, 25-9 and 25-16. The Falcons were on their game with big hits from Elliana Shillig, Alexa Fausto, Tayler Thomason and Morgan Bedard.

Thomason stopped Wonderful’s number one hitter at the net with huge blocks. Carissa Rivette, Elliana Shillig, Sash Johnston and Cami Beurer closed the back court down with great passes on point.

Morgan Bedard and Raegan Thompson put the set assists up for the big hits. It was a great game and everyone played very well. The team is now 30-3 in our overall record.
