From the impressively large rabbit and some well-dressed furry friends at the Fiesta Days Pet Show Friday, Aug. 3 to the last horseshoe thrown Sunday afternoon, Aug. 5, fun was had by all at the 45th Annual Fiesta Days in Frazier Mountain Park.

The theme for the three-day party this year was ‘Country Days – Sapphire Nights.’ Saturday morning’s parade delighted young and old as it made its way along Mt. Pinos Way toward Frazier Mountain Park, where the live entertainment kept everyone tapping their toes.

Frazier Park’s VFW served up their customary pancake breakfast Saturday and Sunday mornings. Family games brought kids and parents out for eating contests and potato sack races. The carnival was full of laughter, and the aerialist dazzled all those who saw her.

The inaugural TeenBeat Talent Show gave young and talented youth the chance to show off their skills, with the winners performing center stage Sunday afternoon.

Sunday was full of still more family-friendly competitions, from the traditional early morning fishing derby to the ever-entertaining log sawing contest to the impressive show of skill at the horseshoe tournament.

Mountain Memories would like to thank the community for coming out to support this great event! Plans are already being made for next year and we are looking for more help. If you have an idea on how we can make the 46th event even better then this year, please join us for our next meeting.

Mountain Memories exists for the purpose of supporting the health and welfare of the mountain communities. Fiesta Days is our sole fundraising effort, and thanks to the great support of the community, each year we are able to support many local efforts.

In recent years we have been able to give more than a dozen scholarships to local high school seniors heading off to college. We have given scholarships to the Jr. Falcon team to help local youth participate in camp. We give to the Meals on Wheels program to help those who cannot drive themselves to get healthy meals.

We have given funds to the South Kern Search and Rescue, to the Mountain Shakespear Festival for materials they needed, and to the Boys & Girls Club to help with their afterschool program expenses. We have sent kids on the high school Ski and Snowboard Club trips, given money to local Girl Scouts to advertise the annual Health Fair, and provided scholarships for local youth to attend national leadership conferences.

We are proud to support local organizations and youth. We encourage any groups or individuals who may need assistance to contact us (Mountain Memories at fiestadays@live.com).
