FMHS grad killed in crash — Benefit, memorial and funeral scheduled

A Lebec resident and 2012 graduate of Frazier Mountain High School died in a traffic accident on Monday, June 23 traveling eastbound on Highway 166, west of Old River Road, in a 1999 Honda Civic.

California Highway Patrol investigators said Benjamin Grajeda, 19 drove onto the south shoulder at 3:33 p.m. as traffic was slowing. He tried to reenter the roadway, lost control and traveled across the eastbound lane, colliding with a westbound Dodge Ram pickup driven by Gary Mock, 32 of Taft. Mock was not injured.

A benefit car wash will be held this Sunday, June 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Mountain Enterprise parking lot. All of the money from the car wash will go directly to Ben’s family. Come out and scrub your ride for Ben!

Memorial services for Ben are Monday, June 30, 4 p.m.-8 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery, 2739 Panama Ln., Bakersfield. The graveside service is Tuesday, July 1 at 10 a.m.
