FP Man Arrested by SWAT Team, Neighbors Hear ‘Gunshots’

*UPDATE* FRAZIER PARK, CA (June 15, 2015 at 11:15 a.m.)— A Frazier Park man was taken into custody at 5:20 a.m. Monday morning, June 15 after a night-long standoff with Kern County Sheriff’s deputies, including the KCSO’s SWAT team.The incident began about 10:16 p.m. Sunday night.

Neighbors have reported to the newspaper that they were awakened at about 4:30 a.m. by what they feared were gunshots.

The man, Jeffrey Richardson, was arrested and charged with criminal threats; assault with a deadly weapon and assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer. He was reportedly using a “flame-thrower device” to threaten neighbors and law enforcement on Ash Trail, according to a statement made by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, Augustin Moreno.

There is incorrect information on Facebook and other media outlets about the events. Guns were not fired. The Mountain Enterprise has researched the event and will report fully in the upcoming issue of The Mountain Enterprise newspaper, on newsstands first thing on Thursday morning.
