Frazier Mountain Park Road repairs to begin Monday, Sept. 12 in Lebec (work stopped on Tuesday)

LEBEC, CA (Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016 at 11:45 a.m.)—Kern County road maintenance crews discontinued repair work today in Lebec due to the cooler air temperature, which affects the application of the asphalt on the roadway, according to work crew members this morning. They said they will resume work late Wednesday morning.

LEBEC, CA (Monday, Sept. 12, 2016 at 10:08 a.m.)—Kern County Supervisor David Couch’s office reported this morning that the section of repairs from Lebec Road east through the Interstate 5 interchange will be done next week. The repair work that began this morning is for the section from Lebec Road west just beyond the west edge of Flying J truck stop.

LEBEC, CA (Friday, Sept. 9, 2016 at 2:45 p.m.)—Kern County Roads Department’s Mark Evans asked The Mountain Enterprise today to alert the public about repairs that will begin for Frazier Mountain Park Road in Lebec from Interstate 5 to the west end of Flying J truck stop. “We’re going to begin work after 8 a.m. to allow most of the morning commuter traffic to get through without delays,” Evans said. “The roadway will remain open throughout the project, which should take most of the week to complete. But there could be delays of 5 to 20 minutes.” Evans said they will, at times, be able to divert traffic along the frontage road to reduce delays. He said there will be flagmen and personnel to guide motorists through or around the work area.

Evans said this phase of repair is intended to smooth out rough sections of the roadway and to “get us through to next year” when he hopes that a more substantial job on the roadway can be done.

Evans invites residents to visit http://roads.kerndsa.com/road-status-closures for road closure status or to call 661-862-8891 at the main office. He asked that people not call the Lebec yard as they will be busy with the project. He also said questions can be directed to him directly at 661-862-8854.
