Labor Day Weekend offers three great opportunities to have fun while doing good things to benefit your community. All three occur on Saturday, Sept. 5

The Blues, Brews and BBQ Festival at Pine Mountain Village will help cover the cost of Peak to Peak Mountain Charter School’s water expenses. The school’s water source dried up last year. They have developed an effective interim response, but it takes money from the educational fund. This benefit concert features the amazing, soul-wrenching songs of Michael Richard and the driving beats of Bo and the Bluesdrivers, plus the Blues Women of Bakersfield. Tasty barbecue and frosty brews will make the day complete, noon to 6 p.m.

Hungry 4 Change at Hungry Valley is planned to be a massive circus of fun for off-road vehicle enthusiasts and their families. Mountain Youth Can Change Communities (MyC3) will use the proceeds for scholarships to their Leadership Conference. That event is designed to help local teens chart a healthy course for their futures. Celebrities, music, whoppin’ big hot dogs, snow cones, contests, family fun, dirt bike poker run and prizes are on the menu, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. [www.myc3fundraiser.com]

The Ridge Route Communities Museum’s Annual Rummage Sale will be held at the museum (3515 Park Drive, FP) 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. all three days, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. This event helps this nonprofit group cover its insurance bill for the year, while providing a fun treasure hunt for yard sale fans.
