Health Alert: Lebec Water District Issues Boil Water Order

UPDATE—LEBEC, CA (Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 3:55 p.m.)—Karin Willson of the Lebec County Water District said she has just learned that it will be tomorrow morning before the lab results are returned. She said Lebec restaurants and the Holiday Inn Express have been informed.

LEBEC, CA (Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at 10:30 a.m.)–Lebec County Water District issued a boil water notice on May 31 after a main line break was detected near Lebec Road and the Jehova’s Witness Church on May 30.

Water should be boiled rapidly for at least one minute, according to the notice. Another notice will be made available by the water district when repairs have been made and the water determined to be safe for drinking.

Jack in the Box restaurant and other businesses are closed or limiting services while the notice is in effect. It is expected that the bacterial tests following the repairs will be back from the laboratory and an "all clear" notice will be issued this afternoon.
