Major-injury crash on northbound I-5 at east escape ramp

LEBEC, CA (Friday, Sept. 8,2017 at 11:06 a.m.)—All lanes are now open.

LEBEC, CA (Friday, Sept. 8,2017 at 10:45 a.m.)—The white pickup truck reportedly had lost control, swerved and hit another big rig before spinning around and hitting a big rig that was stopped at the east escape ramp for brake problems, according to CHP Officer Anthes at the Fort Tejon Office. Two children (six and seven years old) in the pickup suffered minor injuries while the driver, a male in his mid-40s from the Los Angeles area was taken by helicopter to a Bakersfield hospital with major injuries, Anthes said. The number 3 and 4 lanes are closed. The big rig that was stopped on the shoulder was carrying U.S. Mail.

LEBEC, CA (Friday, Sept. 8,2017 at 8:15 a.m.)—Traffic is backed up on northbound Interstate 5 after a pickup truck crashed into and is stuck underneath the rear of a big rig at the east escape ramp several miles north of El Tejon School.
