Mil Potrero Highway Opened Again

PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB, CA (Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017 at 10:25 a.m.)—Mil Potrero Highway has been re-opened and cinders laid. Traffic is successfully passing in and out of Pine Mountain Club again. Please be prepared. Have chains /spikes with you and use all wheel / four-wheel drive if possible. Most of all: Drive Slowly.

Ice is tricky. Just a little bit too much speed on a curve can yield wildly unexpected results. Take it slow, safe and smart.

PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB, CA (Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017 at 8:11 a.m.)—CHP does not have an estimate of when Mil Potrero Highway will be open. “All we know is that County Roads Department is on its way,” an officer told The Mountain Enterprise this morning.

PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB, CA (Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017 at 9:11 p.m.)—CHP reports that the tow truck was unable to reach the scene because it was stuck behind approximately 50 stranded vehicles on Mil Potrero Highway. The tow truck driver had to disregard the call.

PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB, CA (Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017 at 8:53 p.m.)—CHP is planning to close Mil Potrero Highway for the entire night.

PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB, CA (Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017 at 7:15 p.m.)—Mil Potrero Highway is still closed to all vehicles. CHP reports that multiple vehicles are still stuck on the ice and the tow truck was unable to pass because stranded vehicles were blocking the roadway. Search and Rescue is enroute to assist with “removal of parties stuck on the roadway.”

PINE MOUNTAIN CLUB, CA (Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017 at 5:21 p.m.)—CHP has requested that Mil Potrero Highway be closed for a traffic collision involving five vehicles. Heavy ice and snow conditions were cited as the cause of the accident. CHP reported “large amount of vehicles stuck in ice.”
