A Motel 6 is preparing to open in the former Best Rest Inn facility in Lebec, adjacent to the Pilot-Flying J fuel stop and travel center.

Following a Flying J bankruptcy reorganization due to the credit crisis of 2008, the entire Flying J property was acquired by Pilot Travel Centers. In August 2010, customers and employees were suddenly told to immediately leave the Best Rest Inn premises. Workers were fired. Corporate spokesperson Shannon Donnel said, “We are going to demolish it.”

Motel 6 is advertising this week to hire about 12 employees.
