Mountain Theater Alliance launches exciting new Summer Stage season

Reported by Bill Fair, MTA

Grab your calendar and sharpen your pencil. The Mountain Theater Alliance (MTA) announces that its Summer Stage 2018 productions open July 13 and run in repertory for three weekends at the Pine Mountain Village Gazebo.

“The Drawer Boy” is a funny and touching classic by Michael Healey. The ever-popular Old Time Radio Shows will run one night on each of the last two weekends of July. You will recognize some of your favorite local actors, plus see new faces, in the Old Time Radio Shows.

The Drawer Boy

MTA producer Kat Fair is directing “The Drawer Boy,” a play that works magic to be both thought-provoking and wickedly funny, as two crusty lifelong friends discover art’s healing power—with a little help from an intrusive stranger.

“I’m thrilled with this cast,” Kat Fair said. Accomplished actors Michael Dulle, Anna Bradley and William Fair are the leads.
A preview of “The Drawer Boy” is Thursday, July 12. Opening night is Friday, July 13, followed by a run spanning Saturday, July 14; Thursday, July 19; Saturday, July 21; then Thursday and Friday, July 26 and 27.

On The Air!

Old Time Radio is back, broadcasting over the 1940s airwaves from the gazebo stage July 20 and 28. Beloved local funny man Beans Morocco directs, bringing you two unique ol’ time programs.

“This will be a great summer!” Kat Fair promises.

Curtain time for all shows is 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 for all performances, but $12.50 for those over 60 and under 12. Get your tickets at the door, over the phone at 661.242.2709, by PayPal at mtastages@att.net or at Basecamp.

“Fantastic sponsor support from the PMC Commercial Property Owners and by Gary Wilson of Mountain Properties Realty makes it possible for MTA to produce the Summer Stage program,” Fair added.

MTA’s mission (as a 501c(3) nonprofit) is to produce the great plays of the past and current works, performed and staged by theater enthusiasts from our Mountain Communities.

Tax deductible donations are appreciated to help us continue. Volunteers are welcomed for all aspects of pre-production, production, backstage and front-of-house support. If you like to design or sew costumes, paint scenery, hang lights, manage props, sell tickets, direct, tread the boards or help in any way, call 661.242.6904 to volunteer.

This is part of the June 22, 2018 online edition of The Mountain Enterprise.
