Last year, Annika Green, then 13, won a $50 prize in her age category in the first Mountain Youth Photo Contest. Her mother, Susanne Green, reports that Annika sold five photos at the gallery showing and pizza party at Work of HeArt Gallery, to earn another $100. With her prize money and earnings, she bought a Nikkon Coolpix L820 camera. She has taken more than 500 photos in the past year.

“She especially loves to photograph animals and flowers,” her mother reports.

Azpyn Pohl, 4 came into The Mountain Enterprise to submit a photo of the quarter moon for this year’s contest. It was taken from the front yard of her Lake of the Woods home. She took it with her InnoTab2 smart pad.

Azpyn is beginning a journey of adventure and discovery as she explores the world through a lens. This Saturday, at 5 p.m. at the Frazier Park Library, join in a celebration party to honor mountain youths and their photography. The public is cordially invited to attend.
