UPDATE: FRIDAY, MAY 25, 2018— Coach Sharon Lemburg texted that the team tied the Championship game 7-7 in the 5th inning, then gave up 3 runs in the 7th, to lose 10-7 in the beautiful Fresno State University field. Coach Lemburg will send a wrap-up story about this exciting season for next week’s paper. Congratulations to the team for making it to the state championships!

The Falcon softball team won their Division VI semi-finals game against Parlier May 23, 5-1. They play their CIF Central Section Championship game Friday, May 25 at 5 p.m. at Fresno State University against Bakersfield Christian.
The team took a 4-0 win last week against Fresno Christian. Chaynau Johnson threw 16 strike-outs and gave up 6 walks.

In the third inning Fresno had bases loaded and Chaynau struck out the next batter to end that threat. In the fifth inning Fresno had runners on first and second, but they failed to score when the ball was grounded out to Kelsy Zuniga for the third out. In the 7th inning Fresno again made an attempt to score.

With runners on second and third and only one out, Chaynau Johnson struck out the next two batters to keep Fresno at no runs, for a shut-out.

In the first inning the Falcons scored one run when Cami Beurer got on with a single and was brought in by Raegan Thompson with a long hit to left-center. The Falcons did not score again until the fifth inning when Cami Beurer again got on base with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice hit by Chaynau Johnson, moved to third by a sacrifice hit by Raegan Thompson and then was brought in with a single by Shawnau Johnson. The last two runs came in the sixth inning when Brittany Wolfe started with a single up the middle, stole second, stole third and was brought in on a bunt single by Kelsy Zuniga. Kelsy was moved to third on a long ball hit for a double by Emily Lira. With runners on second and third and one out, Cami Beurer hit a sacrifice to score Kelsy Zuniga, and we left Emily on third for the inning. We need to improve our hitting for the next two games.

Great win girls!
