The response was quick and deep to last week’s story about Frazier Park School’s former PTSO officers being investigated by Kern County Sheriff’s deputies for possibly mishandling PTSO assets.

As soon as the story came out in The Mountain Enterprise print edition Thursday morning, sympathetic parents from other schools began getting in touch with the newspaper.

Many are parents currently working to make their own PTSOs successful. Officers need greater support in knowing how to structure their groups and how to maintain their records, we were told. Absence of up-to-date records and a lack of guidance about established procedures for maintaining the organizations was…
