Relay for Life of the Mountain Communities is already hard at work with plans for the June 6, 2015 event.

June Schmidt of Frazier Park sent out this summary of the recent planning meeting.

By June Schmidt, Relay For Life

‘Western’ is our theme for this year’s Relay For Life. Our slogan? Giving Cancer the Boot!

Our Survivor Social is set for Saturday, March 21, noon to 1:30 p.m. at the VFW Hall. Our theme will be ‘Spring.’ Please let me know of any Survivors you would like me to invite who have not already been part of Relay For Life. Send me an address so we can send them an invitation.

The Cancer Crushers are planning to raffle a quilt again this year and will hold a yard sale in April.

We will co-host a Mountain Communities Chamber of Commerce Mixer with California Bank & Trust on April 15, at the bank, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Karen Schott’s Team, One Year Better, will once again have two booths at the Lilac Festival, May 16-17. We will also participate in the Ridge Route Run Car Show in Frazier Park on May 23.

We welcome our new accounting chair. Team Cure-Bear co-captains Kelly Merkling and Kris Gendron also joined us for the first time.

Our team got the Facebook page operating again. Visit us at Relay For Life of Mtn Communities and give us a ‘Like.’

If you have not already registered for this year, please take the time to do so soon. We stand at seven teams, 39 participants and $2,676.89. Contact me at schmdthd@att.net if you’d like to learn more about starting your own team, or joining a fun one. Thank you all for being part of Relay For Life.
