Dear Editor:

I appreciated Karen Schott’s OpEd on Sept. 14 ["At least we should know who they are! A Letter to Sheriff Donny Youngblood" in The Mountain Enterprise] regarding releasing booking photos.

It caused me to think, ‘just because we have always done it this way, is it right?’

We are in discussion with Kern County Counsel regarding this issue. I will have an answer for you soon.

Youngblood is Kern County’s Sheriff. Schott was asking that he reconsider the county’s policy refusing to release booking photos. The majority of California’s counties do now release them.
