Smoke from the Soberanes fire blows into Kern County

FRAZIER PARK, LEBEC, CA (Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 10:08 a.m.)β€”Mountain Community residents, including Neenach, may smell smoke this morning. We received the following note from Kern County Fire Department Public Information Officer Matt Redstone:
β€œThe Kern County fire emergency dispatchers are receiving an extremely large number of calls about smoke and the smell of smoke in the [region]. The smoke is from the Soberanes fire in Monterey County. There has been a wind shift in the area and dense fog has rolled in. These two factors are combining to push the smoke into the Kern County area. There is no fire in this area.”

In addition, Gorman residents are also smelling smoke from a wildfire on Vandenberg Air Force Base in Santa Barbara County according to Los Angeles County Fire Department sources.
