FRAZIER PARK, CA (Monday, Dec. 26, 2016 at 7:21 a.m.)—Interstate 5 is open over the Grapevine. Mt. Pinos Road to the top of the mountain remains closed, according to Kern County Roads Department. Chuchupate snowplay area is open—be careful of ice on the the road leading into the snowplay area. There are parking and snowplay opportunities at “the Y” (west end of Cuddy Valley Road where it intersects with Mil Potrero Hwy). Cerro Noroeste Road remains closed for the winter. No other road closures are reported at this time. Please do not enter private property for snowplay or any other reason without permission from the property owner. Be sure to safely and legally park your vehicle before exiting the vehicle for snowplay.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016 at 7:02 a.m.)—Interstate 5 is open over the Grapevine. Mt. Pinos Road leading to the Mt. Pinos parking area is closed at Cuddy Valley Road due to snow and ice conditions.

FRAZIER PARK, CA (Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016 at 10:39 a.m.)—Interstate 5 over the Grapevine is now open. CHP earlier reported that I-5 conditions were “icy with snow.” The Grapevine was closed for a time during the night due to snow and ice. Some motorists are having problems on Mil Potrero Highway with snow and ice. Vehicles not properly equipped with traction devices and All Wheel Drive were stranded this morning. Mil Potrero Highway is open at this time. Mt Pinos Road (leading to the top of Mt. Pinos) was closed at 9:20 a.m. and may remain closed until after the storm passes, according to an employee with Mt. Pinos Ranger District. Snow is expected to fall through Saturday afternoon. Chuchupate snow play area (just south of the ranger station) may be opened on Sunday (Christmas Day).
