State of Emergency announced for Kern County

SACRAMENTO, CA (Friday, June 24, 2016 at 4:15 p.m.)— Governor Edmund G. “Jerry” Brown has proclaimed a state of emergency to help with impacts of the Erskine fire in the Lake Isabella that has resulted in the loss of at least two lives and over 80 homes, with thousands evacuated.

“Anne and I extend our heartfelt sympathies to everyone impacted by this destructive blaze,” said Governor Brown. “We join all Californians in expressing our gratitude to the courageous firefighters, emergency personnel and volunteers working tirelessly throughout Kern County to help residents and extinguish this fire.”’
