Surprise Win Puts Cheer Team in National Contest

A local team of pint-sized fireballs rocked Magic Mountain in November and now hope to conquer Las Vegas, but the Frazier Mountain Youth Cheerleading team needs your help to get there. They hope to raise $2,500 by January 1.

“It sounds expensive, but I didn’t realize how well the kids would do in their first year,” coach Delorah Latham said.

The Frazier Mountain team took first place in the “Show Cheer” division November 22 at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Santa Clarita against about 80 other teams with a 2.5 min- Community since 1966 Mario Cedillo was charged with felony animal cruelty for allegedly abandoning almost a dozen puppies on two mountain roads. The Voice of the Mountain ute routine containing stunts, tumbling, jumps and fast-paced dance segments.

The Jamz Mountain Classic Regional Cheerleading Championship was their first competition. The squad took third place in the Youth IV Pom Dance using jazz dance technique and pom-pons (yes, pom-pons is spelled correctly).

Now the team needs sponsors and donations to climb to the nationals. They will be holding fundraisers in pursuit of their goals this month. Contact coach Delorah Latham at 245-3534 if you can help.
