• Join Tejon Ranch Conservancy on the Big Sycamore Canyon hike, near where the Pacific Crest Trail will cross through the Antelope Valley side of Tejon Ranch, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. The hike is moderately difficult. Register at www.tejonconservancy.org/calendar.htm.

• Tejon Ranch Conservancy presents the fourth, free community lecture: The Big Picture in a Small Frame, at the Frazier Park Library, 7–9 p.m. Naturalist, Ali Sheehey will share exciting stories about Kern County and the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Saturday, April 18

• It’s time for Toxic Waste Round-up at Lebec Transfer site (300 Landfill Rd, Lebec), 9 a.m.–12 noon. Bring your household hazardous waste such as: automotive fluids, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, household cleaners, paints, pesticides, pool chemicals and sharps. • It’s Sponsor Appreciation Day for Frazier Mountain Little League, 10 a.m.– 2 p.m., at Tejon Fields (4625 Lebec Rd., Lebec) The festivities include face painting, a dunk tank, team pictures and a silent auction. See page 4 for additional information.

• A Black Out Night Hike Adventure is hosted by Wind Wolves Preserve, 7:15 –9:15 p.m., free. See great stars, learn about nocturnal animals and enjoy sensory awareness activities. Ages 6 and up welcome, no strollers. Please bring flashlights.

Sunday, April 19

• Spring Clothing Exchange sponsored by Let’s Live Local, is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Condor Room at the Pine Mountain Clubhouse. This event is entirely free and open to everyone. No money will be exchanged: Come to bring items, take items, or both.

Tuesday, April 21

• Come cheer on Frazier Mountain High School’s varsity softball team in their game against Alpaugh High School, 3:15 p.m. at the high school (700 Falcon Way, Lebec). Admission is free. See report about Falcon Baseball in the print edition.

Wednesday, April 22

• Are you excited about math? Frazier Park School is! Join staff, parents and students for a fun and educational afternoon playing math games. The Math Fair is in the cafeteria, 2:15 –3:15 p.m., for grades K–4 (3149 San Carlos Trail, FP).

Thursday, April 23

• All residents of the Cuddy Valley aquifer area, including private well owners, are invited to a joint meeting of the Frazier Park Public Utility District and Lake of the Woods Mutual Water Company to discuss the possible formation of a regional water supply system. The meeting is at 6 p.m. at Frazier Park Public Utility District Office (4020 Park Drive, Frazier Park).

Ongoing and Upcoming

• Sign up for the Free Spay/Neuter Clinic April 25 for all residents of the Frazier Mountain community at the Frazier Mountain Park Community Center (3800 Park Dr., Frazier Park). Call 805.584.3823 right away to make an appointment. Limit of four pets per household. Your pet must be at least two months old and you must provide proof of residency.

• Calling all homeless talents, Jammin’ in the Park, is looking for you! On Sunday, April 26, from 1–3 p.m., come and share your musical talents at Dr. Martin Luther King Park (35 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd., Bakersfield). Musicians perform on a first come sign-up basis with a 5 minute maximum and all material must be G-rated. Audience, fans welcome.

• Save the date! Frazier Park School is hosting a community picnic on May 1, from 6–8 p.m. at Frazier Park School. Watch the Calendar page for additional information in the upcoming weeks.

• The Family Resource Center (FRC) still has vouchers for an eye exam and a free pair of eyeglasses for residents who meet the income guidelines. You must be U.S. citizens or documented immigrants with social security numbers. Call the FRC today at 661.245.4303.

• Before you know it, our community will be kicking off our festival season of fun with the 33rd Annual Lilac Festival and Parade. Make your booth reservation and fill out your application to join in the parade! Deadline to reserve a booth is May 1. Submit your parade application by May 10. • Artworks Community Gallery brings you April Whimsy, an art show featuring the whimsical art of five local artisans with wild imaginations. All are invited to come and enjoy (16233 Pine Valley Lane, PMV, Friday– Sunday, 12 noon –5 p.m.). The show continues through May 10.
