Sunday, Jan. 17

• Lake of the Woods Mutual Water Co. • Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) will offer two more volunteer orientations in Bakersfield. The first will be Friday, Jan. 22, 3:30 p.m. at the Wilson Branch Library, 1901 Wilson Rd. • The Family Resource Center is offering help during the Open Enrollment period for the Covered California health plan which ends January 31. Certified counselors are available to assist with the application process. For appointments call 661.245.4303.

• A low cost spay/neuter clinic for cats or dogs will be at Shelter on the Hill (879 Lebec Rd., Lebec) on Thursday, Jan. 21. A $20 voucher is available at the Family Resource Center. To schedule call Becky Trask, 661.245.3398. Four pets per household is the limit, two months and older, please. Bring proof of residence. Future low cost clinics are planned for February 25, March 17, April 28 and May 26. The Jan. 22 free clinic is full.
