• Frazier Mountain Little League’s Sponsor Appreciation Day is set for today at Tejon Fields. Photos will be taken at 8 a.m. and games start at 9 a.m. Come give a cheer and share some BBQ with those who make FMLL possible. Fun activities will include a hitting derby and the popular bounce house.

• Lace up your running shoes. Get ready for the Lumberjack 5-mile Fun Run. This is a fundraiser for the El Tejon 8th grade graduation. The run starts at 10 a.m. at the Piñon Pines Fire Station (1001 Coldwater Drive, Piñon Pines). Entry is $5 for El Tejon Unified School District students, $15 for individuals and $20 for a family, payable on the day of the event. Lunch is included. Call Jenifer Abell, 661.245.1121.

• The Medication Take Back Day is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Frazier Park Sheriff’s substation. Bring in your expired and unused prescription, over the counter and pet drugs for safe disposal. Get free Child Identification cards through the Kern County Sheriff’s Office. The Mountain Communities Coalition Against Substance Abuse (McCASA, 661.245.4303) will assist. • The Mountain Youth Photo Contest pizza party and opening is at Artworks Gallery, 16233 Pine Valley Lane, Pine Mountain Village tonight at 5 p.m. Everyone is welcome. All of the amazing works on display by 50 Local youths will be for sale. All proceeds go to the young artists. Come on out and join the fun.

• Did you say chicken dinner? Learn about the Bobcat Reading Program Kickoff at Frazier Park School, 4:30–6:30 p.m. Enjoy delicious Cinco de Mayo chicken dinners ($4 and $6 to benefit the PTSO and the literacy program). See the story in The Mountain Enterprise.

• A Cinco de Mayo movie night at Gorman School for the 8th grade, 5 p.m. $5 for ‘Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3,’ nachos and a drink.

• Do you want to build your confidence and have some fun? An Improv Class starts today at the Frazier Park Library, 6–8 p.m. This is a seven week course (through June 16). The class is led by comedienne Anna Bradley. It is for teens and adults only. Sign up at the front desk at the library.

• Do we want an extra $1 million to help repair Lake of the Woods’ water system? A public meeting at 7 p.m. will answer your questions about the application for USDA/Rural Utility Service matching funds (LOWMWC office, 7025 Cuddy Valley Rd., #F, LOW).

• The 34th Annual Lilac Festival is May 14-15. Submit your parade and booth applications right away. Get them at www.pmclilacfestival.com. May 1 is the deadline for vendors, May 8 for parade entries. The festival is 9 a.m.–5 p.m. both days in the Pine Mountain Village Center. The fun starts with the parade at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
