• Ready, Set, Relay! The 4th Annual Relay For Life of the Mountain Communities has an Olympic theme. Join us to ‘Go for the Gold’ in the fight against cancer. Gates open at Frazier Mountain High School’s football field at 8:30 a.m. Opening ceremonies are at 10 a.m. The Luminaria Ceremony begins at 8:30 p.m. There will be food, music, games and fun all day and into the night at this 24 hour “camp out, sleep over” event.

• The amazing Community Health Fair is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Frazier Park School. A wide array of free health services and screenings including blood chemistry, cholesterol and diabetes tests. Free children’s immunizations (must have immunization card), free mammograms (reservations at 245.1952) and teeth cleaning (adult appointments, call 242.3704; kids, 245.4303). • Attend a free Valley Fever Awareness seminar, 10 a.m.–noon at the Antelope Valley Hospital Community Resource Center, for expert up-to-date information on risk factors, symptoms and treatment for you and your pets [44151 15th St. West, Lancaster]. RSVP to Richard Cook at 661.729.6232.

• How will the library be funded? Supervisor Couch campaigned against Measure F to fund the libraries. At 11:30 a.m. he will meet at the Frazier Park Library to discuss how to keep the libraries open now that the measure did not receive a supermajority. All are welcome.

• Outdoor Survival Preparedness will be offered at Wind Wolves Preserve, 10 a.m.–noon. The program teaches kids ages 7 and up how to stay safe while enjoying nature. Head north on I-5 for 19.4 miles, exit west on SR 166 for 14.6 miles (16019 Maricopa Highway), about a 40-minute drive.

• The Pine Mountain Amateur Radio Club (PMARC) will be celebrating Field Day along with approximately 350,000 other amateur radio operators across this nation. The Pine Mountain Amateur Radio Club will host a public display to demonstrate what amateur radio is all about from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Frazier Mountain Park and also operate a site at Cerro Noroeste (near the summit).

• The free Alcohol Training Class for Fiesta Days volunteers is changed to today, noon to 2 p.m. at Caveman Cavey’s.

Monday, June 27

• Social Security Representative Merita Martinez returns to the Family Resource Center from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to answer your general questions about SSA, SSI and SSDI. Assistance with Social Security account registration, replacement of SS cards and help with online services will also be offered. To schedule an appointment call the FRC at 661.245.4303.
