• Basketball clinics for 2nd through 9th grades are being held Tuesday and Thursday, 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the Frazier Mountain High School gym today through August 11. Just show up; $5 per session will benefit FMHS basketball team.
• Looking for something fun to do in the cool of the evening? Sports Night at Lampkin Park is every Tuesday, 5–7 p.m., just west of Pine Mountain Village. All ages are welcome. Sports equipment is provided.

• Do you need some great summer reading material? Friends of the Frazier Park Library begin their used book sale for members only from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the library. Not a member? Memberships will be available at $10 per individual or $15 per family. The sale is open to all Aug. 4 (11 a.m.–6 p.m.), Family Day is Aug. 5 (9 a.m.–5 p.m.) and Half-price Day is Aug. 6 (9 a.m.–4 p.m.).
• There is a child who needs your help. Learn how to become a CASA volunteer at an orientation, 5:30 p.m. at the CASA office (1717 Columbus St., Bakersfield). CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) stand up for abused children who need a voice in the court system.
