• Get ready for some scary fun at the El Tejon School Haunted House, 6–9 p.m. Pre-sale admission tickets are $3 or $5 at the door. Meal tickets (hot dog, chips and a drink) are $4 pre-sale or $5 at the door.

• Frazier Mountain Little League board meeting will be held 7 p.m. at Caveman Cavey’s, 3620 Mt. Pinos Way, FP.

• It’s Homecoming at FMHS! Be here for the parade based on this year’s theme, “A Jump Through Time”at 6:30 p.m. Then come cheer the Falcon Football Team vs. Alpaugh at 7 p.m. Game tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students and alumni, $3 for ages 3–7. There will be a dance from 8:30 p.m. to 12 a.m. Pre-sale tickets are $8; $10 at the door.

Saturday, October 22

* Meet local law enforcement for Coffee with a Cop 9–11 a.m. in the Condor Lounge in the PMC Clubhouse. This is an informal gathering to give members and guests an opportunity to meet with neighborhood officers.

• It’s Boo-at-the-Zoo at the California Living Museum (CALM), 10500 Alfred Harrell Highway, Bakersfield, today and tomorrow 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Costumes are encouraged as you trick-or-treat around the zoo. Kids 12 and under are admitted for free. Call 661.872.2256 or visit calmzoo.org.

• A Fall Festival at Gorman School, 4–6 p.m. promises lots of family fun. Activities will include games and a silent auction.

• Get in the Halloween spirit with local ghost stories and seasonal crafts at your Haunted Library, 3:30–5 p.m. Then stay for the Second Annual Trunk or Treat, 5–7 p.m. The Frazier Park Library holds a family-friendly Trunk or Treat in the library parking lot (overflow is at Frazier Mtn. Park parking lot).

Monday, October 24

• Today begins Red Ribbon Week at Frazier Park Elementary School, Gorman School and Peak to Peak Mountain Charter School in support of a drug-free community. There will be a different theme for each day. Take the drug-free pledge at redribbon.org.

Tuesday, October 25

• A Medicare Open Enrollment seminar at the Family Resource Center, 3015 Mt. Pinos Way, FP, is 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Get free help to make informed decisions about your Medicare options. RSVP to Courtnee Hahn at 661.747.9782 (additional dates are November 1, 8, 22 and 29).

Wednesday, October 26

• The Family Fall Festival at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (6241 Frazier Mtn. Rd., LOW), 6–8 p.m. will feature a chili cook-off, costume contest, fun activities and lots of candy. Please no masks or gory costumes. See page 15.

Thursday, October 27

• The Mommy and Me group will have a Halloween party, 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Family Resource Center, 3105 Mt. Pinos Way, FP. So dress the little ones in costume and bring enough Halloween-type snacks for each child.

• The Independent Living Center of Kern County is offering a free computer and/or cell phone class for those with disabilities from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Frazier Park Library. The class is also open to blind/visually impaired persons over 55 years of age. Call 661.325.1063 for details.

• 36,000 new neighbors may come with Tejon Ranchcorp’s Grapevine project, which combines 10,000 to 12,000 new homes with commercial, industrial development from the base of the Grapevine north to Laval Road. The Kern County Planning Commission hearing is at 7 p.m. (1115 Truxtun Ave., ground floor in the Board of Supervisors chambers. Free parking is available in adjacent parking structure).
