• Veterans will be honored at the Frazier Mountain High School rally in the gym. The public event begins at 12:30 p.m.

• ‘Murder Runs in the Family’ is the Spring Drama Production, 7 p.m. at Frazier Mountain High School. Tickets are $8 or $5 for students with ID. Kids three and under are free. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

• The 9th Annual Ridge Route Run Car Show is 10 a.m.–3 p.m. in downtown Frazier Park. Gentlemen and Ladies, start your engines! Food, music and local arts and crafts add to the fun. This year’s event includes a patriotic pet parade at noon. To show your car in the competition, registration is $40 and forms are available at http://www.ridgerouterun.com/Flyer_%26_Forms.html. All proceeds go to local charity.

* The first Concert on the Greens of the Pine Mountain Club season features Lil Elmo and the Cosmos at 4:30 p.m.

• Holy Art Prodigies Batman! Frazier Mountain High School Art students’ works are showcased at Artworks Gallery (16233 Pine Valley Ln., Pine Mountain Village). The opening reception is from 6 to 9 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The show runs through June 23.

• No school for students at the El Tejon Unified, Gorman or Peak to Peak Mountain Charter School for Memorial Day.

• VFW Post 9791 hosts a Memorial Day Ceremony honoring those who lost their lives in service to our country at 11 a.m. at the Cody Prosser Memorial in Frazier Mountain Park. Terrence Alexis is the guest speaker and a tree will be added to the grove on site. Refreshments will be served after the ceremony.

• The South Kern Cemetery District’s 34th Memorial Day event at 9:30 a.m. features the Arvin High School Alumni Band, a keynote by Honorable Jose Flores (former Arvin mayor), color guard by Arvin H.S. JROTC, benediction and refreshments (15543 S. Vineland Rd., Bakersfield).

• 2017 Humanitarian of the Year Award Dinner is 6 p.m. at La Leña Mexican Restaurant in Pine Mountain Village. This year’s honoree is Mel Weinstein. To attend the dinner, call 661.242.6956 or 818.834.5925. The Jizo Peace Center makes the presentation.

• Hear the cannons roar during the 34th Annual Civil War Reenactment at Fort Tejon State Historic Park Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mock battles, a period baseball game, merchandise for sale on Sutler’s Row and more. Adults, $7; ages 7–17, $3; under age 6, free.

• Fiesta Days vendor applications are now available at www.frazierfiestadays.org. The Early Bird discount applies until May 31. The 50th Annual Fiesta Days celebration is August 4–6, 2017. This is a celebration of 50 years of fun and good deeds.

• Get your 2017 Fiesta Days Queen contest application at Mountain Top Video (3620 Mt. Pinos Way, FP). Local youth ages 13–18 may enter. The winner receives a $100 scholarship; a $50 scholarship is for the runner up. Contact Tammie Goddard at 661.245.0315 for details.

• Wine in the Pines on Saturday, June 10, 1–4 p.m. (VIP entry at noon) offers wine tasting, food, craft beers and music in PMV. Must be 21 years old.
