• Come celebrate the written word at the 2017 Festival of Writers, 5–7 p.m. at the Frazier Park Library. The event offers a chance to enjoy good conversation, a glass of wine and a sampling of cheeses with other writers. Space is limited so RSVP at 661.245.1267 or 661.245.3203. Donations for the wine and cheese will benefit the Friends of the Library.

• Do you love birds? Mountain biologist Lynn Stafford and wonderful mountain photographers team up for a visual treat and an exciting story about the life of local birds—7 p.m. in the PMC pool pavilion, hosted by the Condor Group of the Sierra Club. The event is free and open to all.

• Students get ‘Footloose’ at Frazier Mountain High School’s end of the year, country-themed dance, 6–11 p.m. Tickets are $8; $12 for a couple.

• Shake President Lincoln’s hand at the 34th Annual Civil War Reenactment at Fort Tejon State Historic Park today and tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You’ll see an entire 1860s village, with merchandise for sale on Sutler’s Row, mock battles, a period baseball game and more: Adults, $7; ages 7–17, $3; under age 6, free.

• The Summer Reading Challenge and Music Festival Kickoff Celebration is today, 11 a.m. at the Frazier Park Library! Kids who read ten books receive a free book. Sign up for the Reading Challenge at the library or online at KCLsummerchallenge.org. Gil Karson will supply the musical entertainment. Ice cream will be served.

• The 1st Annual Wind Festival is Saturday, 11 a.m. “until the wind blows us out of town” at the Neenach Cafe and Market (22847 W. Ave. D, Lancaster). A wind race, kite flying, frisbee tossing and food will all be part of the fun. No set schedule, just come out and enjoy the day!

• El Tejon Middle School’s 8th grade Graduation Dance is 6–9 p.m. at the school.

• The TriCounty Watchdogs meet at 11 a.m. at La Sierra Restaurant in Frazier Park to consider environmental issues in the Mountain Communities, including the Tejon Ranch Centennial Project draft environmental impact report. You are welcome to attend.
