• Kids 7-12 can join the Junior Rangers Club free, 10–11 a.m. with Hungry Valley Rangers at the Frazier Park Library. Each week is different. This is “Hug-a-Tree” day with fun activities to learn about our gentle forest giants. This free program runs for the next seven weeks.

• The Pine Mountain Amateur Radio Club’s Field Day, a nationwide 24-hour drill with the American Radio League, runs from 11 a.m. at Cerro Noroeste (Mt. Abel) summit, to 11 a.m. Sunday. The public is invited to bring a picnic and come learn. Call 661.242.2211 (KK6PMC) for questions.

• The Frazier Mountain Health Fair is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Frazier Park School. Get free shoes for kids, free health checks for all ages, including blood tests for diabetes and cholesterol, stroke tests, bone density checks, dental screenings, mammograms (call 661.245.1952), prostate checks and much more. Did we say most services are free? The school is at 3149 San Carlos Tr., FP.

• The 5th Annual Relay For Life of the Mountain Communities begins at 8:30 a.m. at Frazier Mountain High School. Opening Ceremonies and Survivor Lap are 10 a.m. The Luminaria Ceremony is at 8:30 p.m. Closing Ceremonies are 7 a.m. Sunday, June 25 (www.relayforlife.org/mountaincommunitiesca).

* This month’s Concert on the Greens in PMC is 4:30 to 7 p.m. The band is Rebel Heart, on stage on the golf course behind the clubhouse.

• Understanding and Eliminating Headaches is a talk presented by Ravinder Singh, MD, 3–5 p.m. at the Frazier Park Library. Dr. Singh is a board certified neurologist who will share the five steps to freedom from headaches.

• Responsible Beverage Service training for Fiesta Days volunteers is 3–5 p.m. at Caveman Cavey’s. This free certification is required for anyone working in the beer booth at the three-day party over the first weekend in August. Additional training dates are planned in July.

• Are you ready for 76,000 new neighbors? Tejon Ranch’s Centennial Project Public Hearing is 6-9 p.m. at Gorman Elementary School (49847 Gorman School Rd., Gorman). You may speak. • A Friends of Frazier Mountain Park meeting is 6 p.m. at Caveman Cavey’s in Frazier Park. The group will gather to plan the upcoming Frazier Proud Community Cleanup set for Saturday, July 15. Everyone is welcome to come help.

• A Public Hearing to amend the Tejon Mountain Village Special Plan is set for July 11, 2 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers (1115 Truxtun Ave., First Floor, Bakersfield). The proposed amendment seeks to convert the currently authorized 400 multifamily dwelling units to single-family homes, bringing the proposed development from 3,050 to 3,540 single-family units. Submit written comments ASAP to the Kern County Planning and Natural Resources Dept., 27000 M St., Suite 100, Bakersfield, CA 93301).

• The Kern County Planning Commission is taking comments until June 27 on a Conditional Use Permit for an 80-foot “monopine” tree cell tower by AT&T at the end of Viewpoint Court in Piñon Pines. Send to Planning and Natural Resources Dept., 2700 M St., Suite 100, Bakersfield, CA, 93301. The hearing is Thursday, July 13, 7 p.m. in the Supervisors Chambers (1115 Truxtun Ave., First floor, Bakersfield).

• Get your Fiesta Days vendor applications at frazierfiestadays.org for the August 4–6, 2017. The deadline to apply is July 14. Parade entry forms can also be found on the web page. Fiesta Days Queen applications are at Mountain Top Video (3620 Mt. Pinos Way, FP; 661.245.0315).

• The spectacular Carrizo Plain National Monument may be threatened. You have until July 10 to comment. One method is at www.savethecarrizo.org.
