• Step back in time at Frontier Army Days Saturday, Aug. 5, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. at Fort Tejon State Historic Park in Lebec. Demonstrations include candle making, laundry, blacksmith shop and carpentry. Cost is $5 for adults; $3 for kids 7–17; six and under free. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the day.

• A public meeting to discuss snow traffic and operations is Saturday, Aug. 12, 10 a.m. at the Frazier Park Community Center with representatives from agencies including the California Highway Patrol, Kern County Sheriff’s Dept. and Kern Co. Roads.

• Microchipping is available for $15 and Nail Trimming is $10 for cats and dogs on a cash only basis Saturday, Aug. 12, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. at the Shelter on the Hill Thrift Store (3536 Mt. Pinos Way, FP).

• Run to the Pines Auto Show is Saturday, August 12, 9 a.m.–4 p.m. in PMC. Register to show your favorite car until August 1 at $25; $30 the day of the event. Vendor forms are due by July 31. Visit http://www.runtothepinesautoshow.com.
