• The Audubon Society’s 118th annual Christmas Bird Count runs through today. To find the nearest count near you, visit http://www.audubon.org/join-christmas-bird-count. Note: The Great Backyard Bird Count is coming up in February, and is local.

• Acoustic Fridays is new at Pine Mountain Club, featuring wonderful musical talent from the Mountain Communities. Free (but tips for the artists are appreciated), at 7 p.m in the Condor Lounge at the PMC clubhouse. Tonight come hear guitarists Zach Blue and Mark Owens. Members and guests are invited to enjoy a fixed price buffet dinner from 5 to 7 p.m.

• Recycle Christmas trees to Sunday, Jan. 7 at the Lebec Transfer Station (300 Landfill Rd., Lebec). Remove stands, nails and decorations.

• Calling all budding photographers, ages 6-18, for the Fifth Annual Mountain Youth Photo Contest. Entries are accepted until Friday, March 2. Get your submission forms at the Frazier Park Library, The Mountain Enterprise, Basecamp, Artworks Gallery, the PMC clubhouse front desk and online at www.MountainEnterprise.com.

• An Outdoor Survival Preparedness Class for kids is offered Saturday, Jan. 13 by Wind Wolves Preserve, 10 a.m.–noon. For reservations call 661.858.1115 or email windwolvespreserve@twc-ca.org.

• The first Pet Food Giveaway of the year is Monday, Jan. 15, 9–11 a.m. at the Shelter on the Hill Thrift Store (3536 Mt. Pinos Way, Frazier Park). This is for those who cannot afford adequate food for their pets. The distribution continues January 15 until supplies are gone.

• Peak to Peak Mountain Charter School’s Science and History Fair is Thursday, Jan. 18 at the clubhouse in Pine Mountain Club. Call the school for times (661.242.3811).

• A Comedy Night featuring Larry Omaha is Friday, Jan. 19 at 7 p.m. in the Condor Room at the clubhouse in Pine Mountain Club. Tickets are $10. All are welcome to join in the fun.

• The Sanctity of Life Spaghetti Dinner benefit for Vine Pregnancy Center is Sunday, Jan. 21, 5 p.m. at the Frazier Mountain Park Community Ctr. Shannon Grove will speak. Pre-sale tickets are $10 (at Falcon’s Nest, Nature’s Home and Your Tshirt Man); $12 at the door.

• A public hearing about removing lead paint and repainting Frazier Mountain Park Community Ctr. is Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers (1115 Truxtun Ave., first floor, Bakersfield). This is a federally-funded project (CD Project No. 24.17.1).

• A public hearing about an AT&T proposal to place a 75-foot monopine cell tower in Frazier Park (at 11171 Dorothy Lane) is Thursday, Jan. 25, 7 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers (1115 Truxtun Ave., first floor, Bakersfield). Submit written comments by January 9 (to Planning and Natural Resources Department, 2700 M St., Ste. 100, Bakersfield, CA 93301).

• Hike through the El Camino Viejo Wilderness at Wind Wolves Preserve. This naturalist-led 6–7 mile trek is Saturday, Jan. 27 from

* The PMC Youth Committee is meeting Saturday, Jan. 27 at 10 a.m. in the Pool Pavilion. Skateboarding will be part of the conversation.

• AT&T hosts a Town Hall meeting Saturday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. in the Condor Room at the Pine Mountain Club clubhouse. The topic is the proposed placement of mono-towers (the ones that look like pine trees) for enhanced services in the PMC area.

• A Ukelele Jam for all ages at the Frazier Park Library is the first Wednesday of the month, 5-7 p.m. Bring your instrument for some fun plucking.
