• The Summer Music Festival continues at Frazier Park Library at 11 a.m., featuring music from Meridian and free ice cream on the porch. Kids, the Summer Reading Challenge is still on: read 10 books and get a free book of your own. Sign up at the library or at KCLsummerchallenge.org.

• Senior Sack provides food staples from 10 a.m. to noon the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at Frazier Mountain Park Community Center (3801 Park Drive). Eligible seniors (with an annual income below $15,000) register once for $2, then may pick up a sack of fresh fruits and veggies, bread, boxed staples and canned food. • Community Healthcare Town Hall is Thursday, July 26, 7 p.m. at the Frazier Park Library. • Summer Stage by Mountain Theater Alliance (MTA) continues with the thought-provoking comic play ‘The Drawer Boy’ Thursday and Friday, July 26 and 27 at 8 p.m. at the Pine Mountain Village Gazebo stage. See photos and ticket information on pg. 10 of print edition.

• Toxic Roundup Household Hazardous Waste drop-off is Saturday, July 28, 9 a.m–noon at Lebec Transfer Station (300 Landfill Road).

• PMC Equestrian Center Open House is Sunday, July 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring student demonstrations, a petting zoo, pony rides (for $5 cash donation), music and refreshments. The event is free, though donations are welcome to support equestrian youth scholarships. The equestrian center is on Aleutian Drive just before the transfer site.

• Leave the modern world at the gate and step into the 1850s at Frontier Army Days Saturday, Aug. 4, 10 a.m.–3 p.m. at Fort Tejon State Historic Park in Lebec. Demonstrations include candle making, laundry, blacksmith shop and carpentry. Cost is $5 for adults; $3 for kids 7–17; six and under free. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the day.

• Embrace the dark on a Blackout Night Hike Saturday, August 11, 7:45–9:45 p.m. at Wind Wolves Preserve. The dark of the new moon is ideal for star gazing. Naturalists will tell of nocturnal animals and lead sensory awareness activities. Black lights may be provided to discover glow-in-the-dark critters. Ages 6 and up (no strollers). These book up early! Reservations open July 28 via www.facebook.com/WindWolvesPreserve.
