• Love your mountain: volunteer to help rangers pull perennial pepperweed and hoary cress (aka weeds) so a pollinator garden can be made to sustain dwindling numbers of monarch butterflies. Arrive between 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. to help until noon. Call 661.245.3731, ext. 7232 / 7241.

• Pianist Andrew Wong invites you to ‘Share the Joys of Classical Music’ at a free concert, 2 p.m. at the South Kern Christian Church (3224 Mt. Pinos Way, FP)—between Falcon’s Nest and Ace. All are welcome, and there will be a hymn medley at the end. Not to be missed!

• Where art and ecosystems meet: ‘Selections from the Waste Wunderkammer’ is an exhibit by artist Karyl Newman, 4–7 p.m. at the Antelope Valley Conservancy (42105 50th St., Quartz Hill), exploring the role of trash in our environment. It’s kid-friendly for ages 8 and up.

* Open Mic Day is 2–5 in the Condor Lounge of the Pine Mountain clubhouse. Isn’t it time you try out those licks in front of an audience instead of just your shower head and your cat? All ages are welcome. Bring the family! Arrive at 1:45 p.m. to sign up for time at the microphone.
