• The 8th annual ‘Christmas in the Village’ parade and variety show promises fun, food, face painting and cheer in Pine Mountain Village. Arrive at 11:00 a.m. for the parade, and after that is the variety show. There will be free hot chocolate, cookies for purchase, Santa, and—back by popular demand—the for-children-only ‘One Stop Kids Shop’ where all gifts are just 25 cents.

• ‘A Celtic Christmas’ featuring music and refreshments is 1 p.m. at the library. Lynne Shane­—on hammered dulcimer and concertina—and her talented group of musicians playing everything from guitar to fiddle, pennywhistle to percussion will be in festive holiday form for you.

• The PMC Guitar Society hosts legendary guitarist Brad Rabuchin for their Home Concert series, 4 p.m. at 2316 Crestwood Court (off Askin Drive, across from the basketball courts). Rabuchin has played with Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Wonder, Willie Nelson, Tom Jones, and spent five years across six continents as the last guitarist with Ray Charles. $10 donation (suggested, not required) helps fund next year’s GuitarFest on the Greens. • The 5th Annual Craft Flaire at Artworks Community Gallery holds its reception for community members to meet the artisans at 5 p.m. at the gallery (16233 Pine Valley Lane, Pine Mountain Village). A festive time with yummy refreshments and great conversation is on tap!

• The L.A Board of Supervisors holds a public hearing about Tejon Ranch Company’s Centennial Project at 9:30 a.m. in Room 381B of the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration (500 W. Temple St., Los Angeles 90012). Interested parties will be given an opportunity to testify. The 20-year Centennial plan projects 19,333 homes (60-70,000 residents) and over 10 million square feet of commercial / industrial space along SR138 between Gorman and Neenach.

• Pet portraits with Santa Claus will be available 10 a.m.–11:30 at the Shelter on the Hill Animal Care Center (879 Lebec Road, Lebec). Bring your pet for a festive photo snapped by Bettina Monique Photography, for a donation of $10 cash.

Ongoing and Upcoming

• The Christmas Light Show in Pine Mountain Village happens nightly, with a spectacle of lights and music every 20 minutes from 6–10 p.m., throughout December.

• ‘FrUiTCaKeS’ is the FMHS drama production that is full of holiday cheer, on Friday, Dec. 14, 7 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 15, 1 p.m. Friday’s performance is dinner theater, with a holiday-themed meal by Falcon’s Nest, starting at 6 p.m. Show tickets are $5 and Friday’s dinner is $10.

• Wreaths Across America Day is observed at Bakersfield National Cemetery (30338 E. Bear Mountain Blvd., Arvin) Saturday,
Dec. 15. The ceremony will begin at 8:50 a.m., and family members are welcome to place wreaths on grave sites of loved ones beginning at 7:30 a.m., where Boy Scouts, Young Marines and Civil Air Patrol, along with other volunteer groups, will be in attendance to assist families.

• Frazier Mountain Little League Early-Bird registration is available in Pine Mountain Club Saturday, Dec. 15, 2–4 p.m. at Basecamp (16311 Askin Dr., PMV) and in Frazier Park Saturday, Dec. 22, 4 p.m. at the In the Wings dance recital at Frazier Mountain High School.

• In the Wings presents its holiday show, ‘Nutcracker Revised,’ Saturday, Dec. 22, 4 p.m. at Frazier Mountain High School. Presale tickets (available at In the Wings, 3524 Mt. Pinos Way, Frazier Park) are $8 for children 12 and under and $10 for general admission; tickets at the door are $10 and $12, respectively.
