•Ten students will represent Frazier Mountain High School at the Science Bowl competition at Cal State Bakersfield today at 8:15 a.m. (9001 Stockdale Hwy. Bakersfield). Students, led by coach Tamara Trost are quizzed on their knowledge of physics, chemistry, biology, earth science and math. Qualifying teams advance to state and national competitions. Come out to support the team and cheer on great scientific minds in the making!

•Local author and photographer Mary Ann Halpin talks about her Fearless Women photo and essay book series over coffee, tea and cookies at 10 a.m. at the Frazier Park Library. Learn about Mary Ann’s 25-year career and her interviews with Leeza Gibbons, Linda Gray and Erin Brockovich. A portrait collection of some of Mary Ann’s photographic work will also be on display.
