•The Annual Curves Food Drive collects food bank contributions until March 31.

•‘The Club’ teens-only after school program is M-F, 3:30-6 p.m. on the Frazier Park School campus (661.245.3139). Come over, get help with homework and hang out with friends.

•Do you own property in PMC? Where is your money is going? Ask questions at the open budget meetings in the PMCPOA clubhouse; if assessments may rise, ask why. The second workshop is Saturday, Mar. 29, 10 a.m. (2425 Beechwood Way).

•The Kern County Grand Jury accepts applications until April 4 from interested candidates who are U.S. citizens, over 18 who speak and read English and are able to donate 20 hours per week (www.co.kern.ca.us/grandjury).

•Stick your nose in a book and read it cover-to-cover! Join the Frazier Park Library’s Cover to Cover Club, read five books between now and April 12, and you will receive a coupon for a free burger from In-N-Out (ages 4–12). For details call 661.245.1267.

•Center of the World Festival invites amateur playwrights, songwriters and filmmakers to submit works centered on social justice and ecological issues. Friday, March 21

•The ‘Hey You!’ Storytellers are back for more fun at the Frazier Park Library, 3:30–4:30 p.m. (3732 Park Drive, FP). This week’s story is The Little Red Hen. You’ll love the surprises. All ages are welcome.

•Come to the ‘Open It Up’ Town Hall to begin the conversation on creating a Drug Free Community. Be part of a frank, fact-based conversation for the whole community at 7 p.m. Hosted by Pine Mountain Club. Dinner available at the club restaurant in advance. Families, friends, businesses, churches are all encouraged to join in.

Saturday, March 22

•Attention all student Bobcats, Badgers and Falcons! Attend today’s fun-filled Saturday School enrichment program, 8 a.m.–12 p.m. and help earn much-needed attendance dollars for your school. Transportation buses are provided to the program, held at FMHS (700 Falcon Way, Lebec).

•Rummage Sale to benefit In The Wings Performance Team (ages 8–16) will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at ITW Studio of Dance (3524 Mt. Pinos Way, Frazier Park). Sale continues on Sunday, March 23 and Saturday, March 29. Donations are currently being accepted.

•Learn Pine Needle Basket Weaving at the Ridge Route Communities Museum, 10 a.m. (3515 Park Drive, Frazier Park). A $5 fee covers supplies and supports your local museum. You can call 661.245.7747 to save a spot or drop in on Saturday to see if there is room.

•A Free First-Ever Barking Picnic will convene all curious pet owners and their favorite pets to 6929 Lockwood Valley Rd, Frazier Park, 11–4. Come for pet adoptions, pet contests (2 p.m.), face painting, professional pet photos with lots of parking (and no doubt barking).

•Line dance anyone? Saggy Bottom Boys plays classic country and rock at the PMC clubhouse lounge, 7–11 p.m. (2425 Beechwood Way, PMC).

Wednesday, March 26

•Mommy & Me will meet at the California Living Museum (CALM) Zoo at 10 a.m. (10500 Alfred Harrell Hwy., Bakersfield). Admission to the zoo and train ride (if running) will be paid for children 0–5, plus one adult by Mommy & Me. Carpools and snack packs are encouraged.
