•The Ridge Route Communities Museum’s annual picnic, 5 p.m. at the museum (3515 Park Dr., Frazier Park). Enjoy Celtic music by Ron Edsall and musings of guest speaker Don Eubank. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and cold beverages are provided. Guests are invited to bring a side dish, salad or dessert to share. Free for museum members; $2 for non-members 13+ and $1 for ages 4–12.

•Movies In The Park brings Back to the Future to the Mountain Community, 8:30 p.m. at the Frazier Mountain Park (3801 Park Dr., FP). Refreshments will be provided. Bring blankets and a lawn chair.

•Meet local historian Bonnie Ketterl Kane, author of the newly released A View from the Ridge Route: The Roadways, at the Ridge Route Museum, 1–4 p.m. (3515 Park Drive, Frazier Park). Kane’s new volume explores stage routes to the I-5, fifth in an illustrated series about the history of these mountains

Wednesday, July 23

•Teens are invited to take a Beach Trip to the Santa Monica Pier with the Boys & Girls Club, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. (661.245.2678) Bring spending money for food or a wristband.

•What is the California Water Project? Mommy & Me visits the Vista del Lago Visitor Center near Pyramid Lake to tour the many exhibits with a guide, 10 a.m. (take I-5 south, exit Vista del Lago Road). Call 661.245.4303 for more info.

•Cruise Night returns to the Falcon’s Nest, 5 p.m. (3216 Mt. Pinos Way in Frazier Park). Come on out for fun, friends and cruise food. Show off those fine cars.

Saturday, July 26

•Make organic ice cream and enjoy Bluegrass music at the grand finale of the Summer Reading Program, 1–4 p.m., Frazier Park Library (3732 Park Drive, FP).

Ongoing and Upcoming

•Center of the World Festival invites amateur songwriters, filmmakers, photographers and artists to submit works centered on social justice and ecological issues. Submission deadlines are July 30 for songwriting (1st prize, $500), video contest (1st prize, $200/youth and adult categories), social photo contest (1st prize, $500) and Art Speaks (1st prize, $300). •Free, nutritious lunch for youths. Toddlers to age 18 will be served at Frazier Park School, 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., M–F through August 1. No forms to fill out, no financial qualifications. Youths are welcome to join in and bring their friends, says Robert Sanchez, cafeteria manager.
