Update: Frazier Mountain Condors/Trojans Flag Team

By Coach Roger Sumpter

The Condors/Trojans flag football team from Frazier Mountain played a great game Thursday, Aug. 28.

Frazier Park boys were a big part of the victory we had against the Bulldogs of Bakersfield. The game didn’t start out that well for the Condors/Trojans. The defense played well, stopping the Bulldogs on their first possession of the game at the 5-yard line.

The offense took over and Oscar Gutierrez was sacked two times resulting in a safety: Bulldogs 1, Condors/Trojans 0. Next time the offense got the ball, Donnie Wills ran the distance for the score. We led 2 to 1. Elijah Cordova played an outstanding game on defense by stopping the Bulldogs for the rest of the game. Wills added another long run. It was 4 to 1 and things were looking good for the team.

Then another Frazier Park player, Lance Adargo, came up in the 3rd with 15 yards for the first down. Adargo went deep and caught a touchdown pass from Gutierrez, sealing the victory 6 to 1. David Lewis of Frazier Park did an outstanding job of blocking for the quarterback. The boys and girl are coming along very well.

Our last meeting with the Bulldogs ended in a 6 to 2 loss.

This week we play the Bears. We should do well if we can contain a 9-year-old-girl who has run all over the league this year. So come out and support the team. We play at Horizon Elementary at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4.

Playoffs start next week.
Thanks for your support
